Shipping Wars features Themendous !!!

It seems now that my posting updates here is always behind, due to the fact that yes, we are busy.  That's a great problem to have actually, but my apologies do go out to the people who do follow this blog, either direct, or indirect.  We have worked on some great projects this year and I hope to post a summary of them soon.  Meantime however, here is one that will knock your socks off....

This coming October 2nd will be A&E's Shipping Wars season finally,
and what better way to sign off for the season, than featuring us: THEMENDOUS?!?

If you are not familiar with the show, Each episode dives into the cutthroat world of heavy-duty movers as they battle for the chance to transport the unshippable. And in our industry: the THEMING industry, pretty much everything we do is "unshippable".  The competition begins with uShip, the world's largest online marketplace for independent truckers. Every day, thousands of shipments are put up for auction. The battle is fierce as the movers have only minutes to bid, and the lowest bidder gets the load.

This episode involves bid winners: Chris and Robbie as they haul an enormous black widow spider to Kennywood Park, in Pittsburgh Pa. for their new amusement park ride: "Black Widow".  The sculpture with it's 8 ft diameter body and 28ft long legs, has a strict delivery schedule that they MUST adhere to. The precariously positioned arachnid requires reinforcements to ensure its safety, putting the young couple to work.   (welcome to everyday at Themendous!)

How did the couple fare?  Did the sculpture get there in one piece? Did "I" survive the day?
Tune in  this Oct 2nd at 10/9C to find out, and don't forget to tell your friends!!!?

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2011 PREVIEW

One of our latest projects: Our Victoria's Secret PINK dog mirror balls make their appearance in this youtube video at 4:19 in. We made a total of 8 dogs at 3ft long each. We then scored the internet for pink glass tile suppliers and cleaned up everything out there. Yes folks, there are NO MORE pink glass tiles available. This was a great and challenging project to say the least, as there were the usual delays that happen when you take on not only a custom project, but a prestigious one as well. Everything had to be spot on to Victoria's Secret Pink Brand. The usual multitude of emails, texts and conference calls between our shop, the local production studio and the VS France office took place. Once we were off and running with our sculptures, we needed to find the pink glass mirror tiles and as mentioned above, there were not many out there and all needed to be special ordered and cut to our specifications. Those tiles then needed to be overnighted, or we would not b...

Beard styles to chose from

So this is where you guys get to have some fun. Remember, the style with the most votes wins and I will hold on to that style for at least 1 month (maybe more, if I like it). But remember the rule is that you have to donate directly to Give Kids the World . They have a several easy ways for you to do so. One last thing... I am a publicly seen person in several places. I am also a member of my town's school board of education so, I WILL have to "sport" the look that gets the highest vote. To register your vote, simply make a comment on this post and the tally will be there for all to see. Now go. Go and donate whatever you can. As little or as much and don't forget to spread the word to all your social network friends! Thanks. Giovanni Calabrese This is what I used to look like before the beard! Man, I need a shave!

Top Secret Project - Episode 2

If you were to Google "Custom Creations", you would find that we excel in oversized props, 3D styrofoam sculpture and black light miniature golf to name but a few of our abilities. (BTW, we also have the ability to walk through walls and doors...shhhhhhh!) Anyway, when this TOP SECRET internationally known company Googled us, they knew they were knocking on the right doors (it was almost as if they knew we were about to walk through them. Hmmmmmmm) Day 2: We ran a hard day and made some serious progress with this and other projects going on at the same time! Maritza is tied up in the office (she was a bad girl) and I took over the camera...
